The Toronto Maple Leafs will continue their fight for the Atlantic Division title without two key players for the foreseeable future.
Coach Craig Berube announced on Friday that defenseman Jake McCabe and center David Kampf will be sidelined for Saturday`s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Both players sustained injuries in Wednesday`s game against the Florida Panthers. They missed practice and are currently listed as day-to-day, according to Berube.
McCabe`s injury occurred late in the game against Florida when he was hit into the boards. He did not finish the game as the Maple Leafs tried to maintain their 3-2 lead.
The details of Kampf`s injury were not specified.
At practice, Oliver Ekman-Larsson took McCabe`s place alongside Chris Tanev, and Philippe Myers filled in on the third defensive pairing with Simon Benoit.
Nick Robertson replaced Kampf on the fourth line, with Pontus Holmberg shifting to center.
McCabe has recorded 2 goals and 23 points in 66 games this season, averaging a career-high 21:31 minutes of ice time.
