Michkov’s Two Goals Propel Flyers Past Sabres

PHILADELPHIA — Matvei Michkov continued his impressive form, scoring two goals for the second game in a row, as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Buffalo Sabres 7-4 on Saturday.

In addition to Michkov`s contribution, Noah Cates, Owen Tippett, Tyson Foerster, Ryan Poehling, and Jakob Pelletier also found the net for the Flyers. This victory marks their second consecutive win, coming shortly after the dismissal of coach John Tortorella on Thursday.

Jack Quinn scored twice for the Sabres, with Alex Tuch and John-Jason Peterka each adding a goal. However, these efforts were not enough to extend Buffalo`s winning streak, which ended at three games as they began a three-game road trip. Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 25 saves in the game.

Michkov`s first goal opened the scoring in the first period, a wrist shot assisted by Travis Konecny and Yegor Zamula. His second goal, another assist from Konecny, came in the second period with a backhand finish. These goals bring the 20-year-old`s season total to 24 goals and 32 assists over 73 games.
