The Montreal Canadiens are bolstering their forward lineup with a promising young player.
On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of Tyler Thorpe, their fifth-round draft pick from last year, to a three-year entry-level contract.
Thorpe, aged 19, will gain experience in the AHL on a professional tryout for the remainder of this season before his contract officially begins.
Hailing from Richmond, British Columbia, the right-winger demonstrated his skills with the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League (WHL) this past season. In 68 games, he scored 27 goals and provided 25 assists, while also accumulating 69 penalty minutes.
Thorpe, who stands at six-foot-five and weighs 210 pounds, also contributed in the playoffs, adding one goal and two assists in five games.
