The New York Islanders made an official announcement on Sunday regarding the departure of head coach Patrick Roy, who has been relieved of his duties. Peter DeBoer has been appointed to fill the vacant position immediately.
Roy, aged 60, concludes his three-season tenure with the Islanders, having guided the team to a cumulative record of 97 wins, 78 losses, and 22 overtime/shootout losses. He originally took over the coaching reins following the dismissal of Lane Lambert on January 20, 2024.
Currently, the Islanders hold a season record of 42 wins, 31 losses, and 5 overtime/shootout losses.
