NHL Addresses Jets, Blues After Warmup Incident

Tension appears to be mounting as the first-round playoff series continue.

The National Hockey League has contacted both the Winnipeg Jets and the St. Louis Blues following an incident that took place between Mark Scheifele and Joel Hofer during warmups ahead of Game 3 on Thursday.

Scheifele and Hofer, reported to be the last two players remaining on the ice, were involved in a brief standoff. Hofer, a Winnipeg native, eventually departed for the dressing room before the Jets captain.

The crowd in St. Louis reportedly booed following this pre-game confrontation.

The Blues went on to secure a 7-2 victory in Game 3, narrowing their series deficit to 2-1.

This wasn`t the only pre-game issue the league addressed from Thursday`s schedule. The NHL is also looking into an incident where Ottawa`s Nick Cousins shot a puck towards Toronto goalie Anthony Stolarz.

Winnipeg and St. Louis are set to face off in Game 4 on Sunday.
