NHL announces 2025 awards finalists schedule

As the competition for the NHL`s ultimate team prize, the Stanley Cup, gets underway, the league is also set to begin recognizing individual excellence. The National Hockey League announced on Friday the schedule for revealing the finalists for its annual awards.

Over a span of two weeks, the top three contenders for each major trophy will be announced, starting with the Vezina Trophy on Monday.

Here is the complete announcement schedule:

Monday, April 28
Vezina Trophy – Awarded to the goaltender judged to be the best in his position.

Tuesday, April 29
James Norris Memorial Trophy – Awarded to the defenceman who demonstrates the greatest all-round ability throughout the season.

Wednesday, April 30
Ted Lindsay Award – Presented to the league`s most outstanding player, as voted by fellow members of the NHL Players` Association.

Thursday, May 1
Hart Memorial Trophy – Awarded to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team.

Friday, May 2
Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy – Presented to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

Frank J. Selke Trophy – Awarded to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.

Jack Adams Award – Presented to the coach judged to have contributed the most to his team’s success.

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy – Awarded to the player judged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.

Monday, May 5
Calder Memorial Trophy – Awarded to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition.

Monday, May 12
Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award – Presented to an individual who, through the game of hockey, has positively impacted his or her community, culture, or society.

The finalists for the Jim Gregory Manager of the Year Award will be revealed after the conclusion of the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Please note that for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy and the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award, only the winners will be announced, not a list of finalists.
