Oilers blank Golden Knights, take 3-1 series lead

The Edmonton Oilers successfully overcame a difficult previous loss, delivering their most complete performance of the playoffs so far.

Adam Henrique netted two goals, and Stuart Skinner stopped all 23 shots he faced, as the Edmonton Oilers secured a 3-0 shutout victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday. This win gives Edmonton a significant 3-1 advantage in their best-of-seven second-round NHL playoff series.

Evander Kane also contributed to the Oilers` scoring with a goal and an assist. The team could have felt demoralized entering this game, particularly after Saturday`s Game 3 defeat by a 4-3 margin, where they allowed the winning goal with just 0.4 seconds remaining in the final period.

“I just think everyone was intensely focused after the major disappointment from Game 3, both in how we played and how it concluded,” commented Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch. “They understood they needed to elevate their performance tonight.”

Skinner was back in goal for Edmonton, having stepped in for Calvin Pickard, who was injured in Game 2 after winning six consecutive starts. Skinner entered the game with a challenging 5.36 goals against average in the post-season but improved his personal playoff record to 1-3 with the shutout.
