Oilers’ Connor McDavid Second-Fastest NHL Player to Hit 100 Playoff Assists

It seems Connor McDavid is constantly pursuing NHL records. The captain of the Edmonton Oilers, Connor McDavid, made history on Thursday by becoming the second-quickest player to amass 100 assists in the NHL playoffs.

McDavid reached this mark in just 90 games. Only the legendary Wayne Gretzky, another Oilers icon, achieved this milestone faster, doing so in 70 games. The next player on the list for fewest games to 100 assists is Doug Gilmour, who needed 125 playoff contests.

The milestone assist came on the Oilers` opening goal in Game 5 against the Dallas Stars. Connor McDavid assisted Corey Perry`s goal, a marker that also made the 40-year-old Perry only the second player of that age or older to score in consecutive Conference Final games in NHL history.

In total, 25 players throughout league history have recorded 100 playoff assists. This list includes active players such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Nikita Kucherov.

Other notable players also achieving the 100-assist mark, some doing so in relatively few games, include Adam Oates, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, and Jari Kurri.

McDavid and Perry weren`t the only Oilers reaching milestones that night. Jeff Skinner scored his very first playoff goal, ending an NHL record streak of 373 regular-season goals without a postseason tally. Skinner`s goal was the third for Edmonton in the game.
