The Edmonton Oilers might receive a boost on their defensive line for Game 2 against the Los Angeles Kings.
According to head coach Kris Knoblauch, defenseman John Klingberg, sidelined since March 27, is considered a `very good possibility` to return for Wednesday night`s Game 2.
The 32-year-old blueliner has appeared in only 11 games for the Oilers since joining in January, recording one goal and 11 points. He`s been out due to a lower-body injury and previously had hip surgery in 2023.
Knoblauch also stated that the starting goaltender for Game 2 has not been decided.
Stuart Skinner had a difficult time in the series opener against the Kings, giving up six goals on 30 shots, including the game-winner by Philip Danault late in the third period.
In 51 regular-season appearances, Skinner recorded an .896 save percentage and 2.81 goals-against average, statistics that mark his lowest performance since his rookie season.
Backup goaltender Calvin Pickard has limited playoff experience, with only three games played, all for the Oilers in their previous postseason run. During those games, he posted a .915 save percentage and a 2.21 goals-against average.
