Oilers Notebook: Skinner Back in Net for Game 3 Under Unusual Circumstances

EDMONTON — Stuart Skinner is set to return as the starting goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 tonight. This comes after Calvin Pickard was listed as `day to day` following an injury suffered in Game 2.

This marks Skinner`s first start since Game 2 of the first round series against Los Angeles. He was replaced by Pickard, during whose tenure the Oilers embarked on their current six-game winning streak.

Skinner commented on the situation, stating, “It`s not the situation we probably wanted, but that`s playoff hockey. You need two goalies to make a deep run. I`m looking forward to getting back in net. I`ve used the time to work on some aspects of my game, and I feel ready.”

Skinner was the primary starter during the regular season, making 50 starts compared to Pickard`s 31. His return is somewhat unusual given the team`s recent impressive six-game winning streak, achieved entirely while he was out of the lineup.
