Edmonton Oilers goaltender Calvin Pickard is currently sidelined due to an injury as the team works to close out their second-round playoff series against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Pickard did not participate in Wednesday`s morning skate held in Las Vegas before Game 5. Head coach Kris Knoblauch stated that the goalie`s status remains `day to day`.
The 33-year-old netminder sustained the injury during the third period of Game 2 on May 8, when Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl fell onto his left leg. Despite finishing the game, Pickard has not appeared in a game since the incident.
Pickard had taken over as the Oilers` starting netminder beginning in Game 3 of their first-round series against the L.A. Kings and played a key role in Edmonton achieving six consecutive wins.
Regular-season starter Stuart Skinner has handled goaltending duties for the last two games. This includes a shutout victory (3-0) in Game 4 on Monday, which gave Edmonton a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-seven series.
Knoblauch confirmed he plans no changes to his lineup for Game 5. However, he emphasized that the team will `need everybody` as they aim to make a deep run in the playoffs.
