Oilers replace Skinner with Pickard in Game 2 vs. Kings

The Edmonton Oilers are facing questions about their goaltending as their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Kings progresses to Northern Alberta.

Stuart Skinner was replaced by Calvin Pickard approximately halfway through the third period of Game 2 on Wednesday, with the Oilers trailing the Kings 5-2. Pickard subsequently allowed the sixth goal scored by Adrian Kempe almost immediately after entering the game.

Skinner`s performance in Game 2 saw him concede five goals on 28 shots. This followed a Game 1 where he allowed six goals on 30 shots. Notably, three of the goals scored by the Kings on Wednesday occurred during power play situations.

When asked about his plans for the starting goaltender in Game 3 after the game, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch did not make a definitive commitment.

The third game of the series is scheduled for Friday evening, with puck drop at 10 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. MT.
