While the Edmonton Oilers are currently focused on their Stanley Cup playoff run, the team is also making moves for the future.
On Saturday, the team announced they have signed forward Viljami Marjala to a two-year entry-level contract.
The 22-year-old Marjala has played the last three seasons in his native Finland, accumulating 29 goals and 72 assists across 129 games.
Last season, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound forward was the leading scorer for TPS Turku, recording 52 points, 44 of which were assists.
He was originally a fifth-round draft pick (2021) by the Buffalo Sabres after spending two seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
