Oilers’ Walman fined $10K for unsportsmanlike conduct, roughing vs. Panthers

The Edmonton Oilers` defeat against the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday proved costly for one player in particular.

Defenseman Jake Walman was hit with two separate fines stemming from his actions during the dominant 6-1 win by the Panthers, the NHL`s Department of Player Safety announced on Tuesday.

Walman received a $5,000 fine for roughing Florida`s Matthew Tkachuk. He was also fined another $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct related to an incident involving the Panthers bench.

Both penalties represent the maximum amount permissible under the current collective bargaining agreement.
