The Montreal Canadiens are bolstering their roster as they push towards the playoffs with the return of forward Oliver Kapanen from overseas.
Timra IK of the SHL announced on Wednesday that Kapanen will rejoin the Canadiens after his SHL season concluded.
Kapanen, 21, began the season with Montreal, making the opening-night roster. However, he was later loaned back to Timra IK to gain more playing time.
Prior to his return to Europe, Kapanen played 12 games for the Canadiens this season, contributing two assists. In 36 games with Timra IK, he was highly productive, scoring 15 goals and adding 20 assists.
The Canadiens drafted Kapanen in the second round, 64th overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft.
