Olli Maatta Suffers Lower-Body Injury, Exits Game Against Panthers

The Utah Hockey Club played the remainder of their game against the Panthers with one fewer defenceman.

Olli Maatta was sidelined during Friday`s game against Florida because of a lower-body injury, the team announced.

The details of how Maatta sustained the injury are not yet known. He left the game in the second period and was ruled unable to return at the start of the third period.

Before his exit, Maatta had played 6 minutes and 17 seconds and recorded one hit.

The 30-year-old defenceman joined Utah in a trade from the Detroit Red Wings in October. This season with Utah, he has tallied two goals and 13 assists in 62 games, averaging over 20 minutes of ice time per game.

Throughout his 12 NHL seasons, Finnish-born Maatta has accumulated 42 goals and 150 assists in 753 games across five different teams.
