Florida Panthers forward Jesse Puljujarvi may face disciplinary action from the league.
The NHL Player Safety announced on Wednesday that the Finnish winger will attend a hearing on Thursday for an illegal check to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning`s Mitchell Chaffee.
During Tuesday`s game, Puljujarvi hit Chaffee in the head with his shoulder in the third period, resulting in a match penalty.
Chaffee was unable to continue playing after the hit and his participation in Tampa Bay`s final regular-season game on Thursday is uncertain.
Puljujarvi had played five games for the Panthers since joining them on an AHL PTO in February. Before that, he played 26 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this season before his contract was terminated.
The veteran player, who previously played for the Oilers for a long time, has scored one goal with the Panthers, adding to his three goals and six points with the Penguins earlier in the season.
The Panthers and Lightning are scheduled to play against each other in the first round of the playoffs.
