Panthers’ Rodrigues to undergo further evaluation after leaving Game 4

Evan Rodrigues did not embellish this time.

The Florida Panthers forward was sidelined from Game 4 after Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson interfered with him in front of the benches five minutes into the third period.

Initially, the referees assessed a five-minute major penalty, but after reviewing the play, they decided it warranted only a minor penalty. Rodrigues went to the locker room and did not return to the ice.

After the game, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice told reporters that the player would require further evaluation before any updates could be provided.

In this year`s playoffs, Rodrigues has recorded three assists in nine games for the Panthers. Last season, during their Stanley Cup run, he had 15 points.

The Panthers did not capitalize on the subsequent power play but ultimately defeated the Maple Leafs to tie the series 2-2, after losing the first two games on the road.

The 31-year-old had previously drawn attention in the Eastern Conference semifinals when he was given an embellishment penalty in Game 2 after being hit along the boards in the second period.
