Panthers’ Tkachuk ejected from Game 3 for hit on Lightning’s Guentzel

Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk was ejected from Game 3 against the Tampa Bay Lightning after delivering a hit on Jake Guentzel.

The incident occurred late in the game, shortly before the Lightning scored into an empty net to make it 5-1. As a result, Tkachuk received a five-minute major penalty for interference and was sent off the ice.

Guentzel, despite the hit, remained in the game and after the match commented that the league should review Tkachuk`s actions.

“I passed the puck and it felt like a long time after I got hit,” Guentzel said. “I’m sure the league’s going to take a look at it. We know the history of what’s happened the last couple games. I’m sure they’ll do their job.”

Tkachuk could potentially face further disciplinary action from the league following the incident.
