Anthony Mantha`s tenure with the Calgary Flames proved to be brief. The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially announced the signing of the forward to a one-year contract valued at $2.5 million.
According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, the deal also includes the potential for an additional $2 million in performance-based bonuses.
The 30-year-old player from Longueuil, Quebec, joined the Flames on a one-year contract last summer. However, his season was significantly impacted when he suffered a season-ending ACL injury in November, limiting his participation to just 13 games. Prior to the injury, Mantha had recorded seven points, consisting of four goals and three assists.
Mantha was originally selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the first round, 20th overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Over the course of his 10 seasons in the league, Mantha has played for the Red Wings, Washington Capitals, Vegas Golden Knights, and Calgary Flames. He has accumulated a career total of 303 points, with 146 goals and 157 assists, across 507 games played.
