Playoff Road Woes Continue for Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck

Fortunately for the Winnipeg Jets, Game 7 will be played at home.

Star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck continues to struggle when playing away from home.

In Game 6 in St. Louis on Friday, the Hart Trophy finalist had another difficult outing, surrendering four straight goals in the second period as the Blues built a commanding 5-1 lead in the opening-round series game. St. Louis ultimately secured a 5-2 victory, knotting the series at three wins apiece.

Jets head coach Scott Arniel replaced Hellebuyck with Eric Comrie at the beginning of the third period. Hellebuyck did not complete any of the three road games in this series.

This performance highlights a concerning pattern for Hellebuyck, who, according to Sportsnet Stats, is now only the third goaltender in NHL history to concede four or more goals in seven consecutive playoff games on the road.

In his six preceding playoff appearances outside of Winnipeg, the two-time Vezina Trophy recipient posted a record of 0-6 with a 5.72 goals-against average and a .835 save percentage.

Hellebuyck`s goals-against average away from home in this specific series stands at 7.24, a stark contrast to his 2.33 GAA when playing at home.

Throughout the Jets-Blues series, the home team has emerged victorious in all six contests.

The decisive Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday in Winnipeg.
