
The Nashville Predators have signed Matthew Wood, their former first-round draft pick, to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The team announced the signing of the winger on Saturday.
Wood, who was selected 15th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, played this past season for the University of Minnesota in the NCAA. He tallied 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) in 39 games. Before his time at Minnesota, the 20-year-old spent two seasons at the University of Connecticut.
Prior to his college career, Wood played for the Victoria Grizzlies in the BCHL for two seasons. He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, and grew up in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
Following Minnesota`s first-round exit from the NCAA Tournament, the Predators stated that Wood will be reporting to the team soon.
