CHICAGO — The Chicago Blackhawks have reached an agreement with Ryan Greene on a three-year, entry-level contract, bringing another highly-regarded prospect to their organization.
Greene`s entry-level contract will span through the 2026-27 season and carries a $950,000 salary cap hit. The 21-year-old forward is expected to join the Blackhawks and may play in their final two games of the current season.
The Blackhawks officially announced the signing on Sunday, following Greene`s Boston University team`s loss to Western Michigan in the NCAA championship tournament the previous day. During his junior year with the Terriers, Greene recorded 13 goals and 25 assists in 40 games.
Greene, who stands at six-foot-two, was drafted by Chicago in the second round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
The Blackhawks have struggled recently, posting a 3-11-3 record in their last 17 games. They are scheduled to play against Montreal on Monday and conclude their season in Ottawa on Tuesday night.
Despite the team`s struggles, there have been encouraging developments for Chicago as several of their top prospects have begun joining the NHL roster. Defenseman Artyom Levshunov made his NHL debut on March 10, and forwards Oliver Moore and defenseman Sam Rinzel both played their first games for Chicago on March 30.
