Seattle Kraken Sign Defenceman Kaden Hammell to Three-Year Entry-Level Contract

The Seattle Kraken organization has officially secured one of their promising young prospects on the blue line.

The team announced on Sunday that they have signed defenceman Kaden Hammell to a three-year, entry-level contract. The contract carries an average annual value (AAV) of $908,333.

Kraken General Manager Jason Botterill commented on the signing, stating, “Kaden demonstrated significant positive progress in his development over the past year. He served as a leader for the Everett Silvertips and elevated his performance during the playoffs. We are pleased to have him under contract for the next three seasons.”

The 20-year-old rearguard recently completed a successful season with the WHL`s Everett Silvertips. He recorded 38 points, including 10 goals and 28 assists, in 59 regular-season games. Hammell was also productive in the postseason, tallying 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 13 playoff contests.

A native of Langley, British Columbia, Hammell was selected by Seattle in the fifth round, 148th overall, during the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
