‘Should be an epic Final’: Hockey World Reacts to Oilers-Panthers Rematch

For the second consecutive season, the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers are set to face off in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Oilers clinched their berth in the final round of the playoffs on Thursday by defeating the Dallas Stars 5–3 in Game 5.

Captain Connor McDavid scored the decisive fourth goal for Edmonton in the second period, while his team effectively countered Dallas`s attempts to rally.

This marks the second straight year Edmonton has eliminated Dallas in the Western Conference Final, following their six-game victory in 2024.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final will be hosted by the Oilers against the defending champions on Wednesday, June 5. It`s worth remembering that last season, the Western Conference champions nearly completed an incredible comeback from a 3-0 deficit in the championship series against the Panthers, ultimately losing in Game 7.
