
Taylor Makar is set to play alongside his brother, Cale Makar, with the Colorado Avalanche organization.
The Avalanche officially announced on Monday the signing of Makar to a one-year, entry-level contract for the 2025-26 NHL season.
Hailing from Calgary, the 24-year-old forward showcased impressive performance this season at the University of Maine, amassing 30 points, including a team-leading 18 goals and 12 assists, across 38 games. Notably, he also led his team with six game-winning goals.
For the remainder of the current 2024-25 season, Makar will gain experience with the Colorado Eagles in the American Hockey League through an amateur tryout agreement.
Prior to this signing, the Avalanche selected Makar in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, as the 220th overall pick. He previously played college hockey for three years at UMass-Amherst.
