Thatcher Demko, the Vancouver Canucks` goalie, has made it clear that he wants to continue his career in Vancouver.
During the team`s end-of-season review, Demko, who is eligible for a contract extension this off-season, expressed his hope to finalize a new deal.
“Since day one, I`ve always envisioned myself as a Canuck. I want to be here, I was drafted here, and I`m keen to secure an extension and remain in Vancouver,” Demko stated.
The 29-year-old goalie has one year remaining on his current five-year, $25 million contract, which he signed before the 2021-22 season.
This past season, Demko`s playing time was limited to 23 games due to an injury, where he achieved a 10-8-3 record with a save percentage of .889 and a goals-against average of 2.90.
A rare knee injury prevented Demko from training in the off-season, delaying his first game appearance until December 10.
Throughout his career, Demko, originally from San Diego, has played 242 games for the Canucks, securing 126 wins and maintaining a .910 save percentage.
