Anca Todoni, the No. 6 seed, triumphed over Leyre Romero Gormaz with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the Megasaray Hotels Open Antalya 1 final. This win marks Todoni`s third WTA 125 title, achieved in 1 hour and 26 minutes.
The 20-year-old Romanian has now won three WTA 125 titles in 2024, previously winning in Bari in June and Santa Cruz in October. All of her WTA 125 titles have been on clay courts.
Todoni, who entered the Top 100 this week at No. 100, has revitalized her 2025 season with this title. Following a promising Australian swing where she won her first WTA 500 main-draw match in Brisbane and qualified for the Australian Open, she experienced a slump, winning only one of her next five matches.
Her Antalya journey started with a tough match against Panna Udvardy, where she came back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. She also rallied in the quarterfinals against No. 3 seed Arantxa Rus, winning 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2. In the final, Todoni`s powerful serve and aggressive baseline game were key to her victory. She landed 67% of her first serves and won 71% of those points.
No. 157-ranked Romero Gormaz reached her first WTA 125 final in Antalya. The 22-year-old Spaniard defeated No. 8 seed Wei Sijia and navigated a challenging path through young players Ella Seidel and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva. She also won against Maja Chwalinska in the semifinals 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Clara Burel, former No. 42, returned to competition in Antalya after a three-month break. She defeated No. 7 seed Nuria Parrizas Diaz but had to retire in the semifinals against Todoni due to a back injury.
The tournament saw early exits for the top two seeds. No. 1 Emiliana Arango lost to Chloe Paquet, and Veronika Erjavec defeated No. 2 Diane Parry.
Chwalinska, despite her singles semifinal loss, won the doubles title with Anastasia Detiuc, defeating Jesika Maleckova and Miriam Skoch. This is their second title together and their first at the WTA 125 level. It is Chwalinska`s third WTA 125 doubles title and Detiuc`s second.
