What Happened
Liverpool and Portugal international forward, Diogo Jota, aged 28, tragically passed away on July 3, 2025. He was involved in a fatal car accident in the Zamora province of western Spain while traveling with his brother, Andre.
The brothers were reportedly en route to a ferry port in Santander, planning an overnight journey back to the United Kingdom. Jota was expected to rejoin Premier League champions Liverpool for training sessions on Monday. Their lives were lost following a reported tyre blowout that led to the devastating crash.

NBA superstar LeBron James, who holds a minority stake in Liverpool Football Club, was also deeply affected by the tragic news of Jota’s death. He shared his heartfelt message on social media, stating: “My prayers go out to his loved ones during this time! May you all be guided and protected! YNWA JOTA!!”
About Diogo Jota`s Family
Diogo Jota married his childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso, in his hometown of Porto in June 2022. The couple had three children together. Their youngest child was born in November 2024, making them less than a year old at the time of the tragedy.
