Get ready to `Lay it on the line` Edmonton.
Canadian rock legends Triumph are set to perform a three-song reunion set in Edmonton`s Ice District as part of the `Rogers Festival at the Final`, leading up to Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. The free outdoor event will also feature a performance by award-winning rock band The Glorious Sons.
This marks Triumph`s first public performance together since 2008. The band, comprising Rik Emmett, Gil Moore, and Mike Levine, originally formed in 1975 and achieved significant fame throughout the late 1970s and 1980s.
Globally, Triumph has sold more than 15 million albums, securing 18 gold and nine platinum certifications across Canada and the United States.
The band`s appearance is linked to Rogers` Stanley Cup Playoffs advertising campaign, which prominently featured Triumph`s hit song `Lay It On The Line`. This campaign led to a significant surge in younger audiences discovering the band through Shazam, with the song quickly reaching number one on Shazam`s Canadian charts and remaining there for three weeks.
According to Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer at Rogers, “We’re thrilled to bring Triumph to the Rogers Festival at the Final, building on the success of our ad campaign that introduced a whole new generation of music fans to this iconic band.”
For Game 1, the free outdoor concert featured Canadian rock band The Arkells.
