Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele’s father, Brad, passes away unexpectedly

Brad Scheifele, father of Winnipeg Jets player Mark Scheifele, passed away suddenly on Friday evening.

Winnipeg Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff announced the news to reporters in Dallas on Saturday.

Head coach Scott Arniel returned to the team hotel to support Scheifele.

Captain Adam Lowry commented on Scheifele`s father: “Having spent my entire career here, with many father-son trips, his energy was simply unmatched. His zest for life and sheer joy were truly passed down to Mark. His positive outlook and general happiness are a testament to the kind of person he was. This is a terrible loss.”

Lowry continued, “We extend our deepest condolences to Mary Lou, Janelle, Kyle, and the entire Scheifele family. This is a profound loss, and it`s difficult to express how deeply we all feel for Mark and his family.”

Cheveldayoff mentioned that it was currently unclear if Scheifele would play in Game 6 against the Stars.
