The Winnipeg Jets have decided to keep one of their depth defensemen within the organization.
The team officially announced on Saturday that they have re-signed blueliner Haydn Fleury to a contract spanning two years, valued at $1.9 million.
Fleury, who is 28 years old, participated in 39 games for the Jets during his first season with the club last year, recording seven assists. He averaged 15:56 of ice time per game during the regular season.
He also appeared in eight playoff contests for the Jets, where he contributed two assists and maintained an average ice time of 15:16.
Fleury missed a significant portion of the regular season after sustaining a lower-body injury in December.
A native of Carlyle, Saskatchewan, Fleury initially joined the Jets as a free agent on a one-year deal prior to the 2024-25 season. His first seven years in the NHL were spent playing for the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Fleury was originally drafted seventh overall in the 2014 NHL Draft by the Hurricanes. Over his NHL career, he has accumulated 10 goals and 34 assists in 307 games played.
