The Winnipeg Jets have reached an agreement with forward Morgan Barron on a new contract, successfully navigating away from the arbitration process. The team announced Monday that they have signed Barron to a two-year extension valued at $3.7 million.
This new deal carries an annual average value (AAV) of $1.85 million, providing financial certainty for the team and the player through the 2026-27 NHL season. The signing ensures the 26-year-old forward remains a part of the Jets` roster.
During the recent 2024-25 regular season, Barron appeared in 74 games for the Jets, recording 15 points, split between eight goals and seven assists. He also saw action in the team`s playoff run, contributing two assists over 13 post-season contests.
A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Barron was originally a sixth-round selection, 174th overall, by the New York Rangers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He joined the Winnipeg organization in March 2022 as part of the trade package that sent forward Andrew Copp to the Rangers.
Over his five-year professional career to date, spanning time with both the Rangers and the Jets, Barron has played in 256 regular season games, accumulating 60 career points (30 goals, 30 assists).
