NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, an ECHL team affiliated with the NHL's Washington Capitals and the AHL's Hershey Bears, have announced agreements with forward Josh Prokop and defenseman Luke Prokop for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Josh Prokop, 26, is entering his second full professional season. He previously played for Herning Blue Fox in Denmark's top league, Metal Ligaen, where he recorded 36 points (17 goals, 19 assists) in 47 regular-season games. In the playoffs, Prokop contributed 12 points (7 goals, 5 assists) to help Herning win a Danish Championship. The team also secured a bronze medal in the IIHF Continental Cup.
Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Josh made his professional debut in the AHL during the 2024-25 season, scoring three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in seven games for the Bakersfield Condors.
Before turning pro, he played four seasons at the University of Alberta, serving as captain for his final two years. During the 2022-23 season, Prokop led the Golden Bears with 37 points (18 goals, 19 assists) and was named a USports (West) Second All-Star Team honoree. In total, he amassed 113 points (53 goals, 60 assists) in 104 games for Alberta.
Luke Prokop, 24, joins South Carolina after playing 42 AHL games for Bakersfield last season, accumulating 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists). He was selected by the Nashville Predators in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft and made his professional debut in the 2022-23 season with eight games for the Norfolk Admirals.
In his first full professional year in 2023-24, Luke played 55 games for the Atlanta Gladiators, registering 28 points (5 goals, 23 assists), and added two assists in nine AHL appearances with Milwaukee. In the 2024-25 season, the Edmonton, Alberta native spent the entire season with Milwaukee, notching four points (1 goal, 3 assists).
Prior to his professional career, Luke spent six seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), most recently with the Seattle Thunderbirds in 2022-23, where he helped them reach the WHL championship and the Memorial Cup Finals. He also won a WHL title in 2021-22 with the Edmonton Oil Kings and was recognized as the WHL's Humanitarian of the Year.
The 2026-27 season will be the first time Josh and Luke have played together since the 2020-21 season, when they were teammates with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.
