SVG Lüneburg secured their spot in the CEV Cup semi-finals by overcoming Alterna SPVB Poitiers with a 3–1 victory (29–27, 19–25, 26–24, 26–24) in a hard-fought second leg of their quarterfinal match.
Before a crowd of 1,892 passionate fans in Poitiers, both teams delivered a highly competitive performance, with the intense rivalry underscored by a final scoreline of 100–100 in total points.
The match commenced with a tightly contested first set, which Lüneburg ultimately claimed 29–27 after extended play. Poitiers retaliated decisively in the second set, leveraging powerful attacks from Kevin Kobrines and Simon Magnin to secure a 25–19 win and equalize the contest.
The pivotal third set saw Lüneburg stage a remarkable recovery. Faced with a late 22–24 deficit, Ethan Champlin spearheaded a crucial serving run, transforming their disadvantage into a 26–24 victory. This win secured the necessary two sets for their progression to the next round. Despite having already qualified, the German team maintained their strong momentum, closing out the match by winning the fourth set 26–24.
Thomas Pujol emerged as Poitiers' leading scorer with 17 points, while Axel Enlund topped Lüneburg's scoresheet with 15 points. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award was presented to setter Santeri Välimaa.
